How old must you be to buy a National Lottery ticket or scratch card?

This used to be a question in the Life in the UK test - but you no longer need to know the answer because they have taken the question out of the test!

Why has the question gone?

In the official book, Life in the United Kingdom: A Guide for New Residents, we are told that you need to be at least 16 or over to buy a national lottery ticket or scratch card.

If you’re using the official question app, the app gives the correct answer as 18. Confusion!

I contacted the Life in the UK test organisers and was told that they are aware of the discrepancy and have removed the question from the test. So, one less thing to learn.

If you would like to know how old do you have to be to buy a national lottery ticket or scratch card the answer is that since October 2021 the law has changed and you have to be 18 or over.
